2004 ALL-ACADEMY TOURNAMENT RECAP

The 3^rd Annual All Academy Golf Tournament was held at beautiful Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids on Friday, August 20.  Bunker Hills is rated one of the top 10 public courses in Minnesota.  The weather was perfect and we had a total of 63 golfers from the 3 academies participate in this year’s event.  This is a dramatic increase in participants from the first two-year totals of 28 and 32.  Our goal is to increase participation in this event every year going forward.

There were a total of 17 teams competing for three contests; low team score, longest drive, and closest to the pin.  The breakdown of the golfers was as follows:  31 from USMA, 17 from USNA, and 15 from USAFA.  The following is a list of the winners in each contest:

-         Longest Drive:  Owen Tatsuta USMA ‘91

-         Longest Drive:  John Keohene USAFA ‘78

-         Closest to Pin:  Steve Bostwick USNA ‘62

-         Closest to Pin:  John Matuscak USMA ‘80

-         Low team score:  USMA (Mike Pape’88, Ryan VanLoeken guest, Owen Tatsuta ’91)    * USMA owns the traveling trophy again until next year’s event

After the tournament, 58 golfers enjoyed sharing their golf stories afterwards in the lounge area before sitting down for dinner and drinks at the Season’s restaurant.  Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing even more people next year!
